First Ever European Examination in Anaesthesia to be Held in Malta

The European Diploma of Anaesthesiology Part 1 examination was held in Malta for the first time on Saturday 4th October 2003, at the Medical School, St Luke’s Hospital Malta.  This is the first time that a European Examination in Anaesthesia was held in Malta. Seven candidates from the Department of Anaesthesia of St Luke’s Hospital Malta sat this examination.  This meant that these candidates did not have to travel to another country to sit this examination that is held in several other European states.

This initiative is partly linked to the recent visit to St Luke’s Hospital by Dr Zorab, former Chariman, examinations board of the European Academy of Anaesthesiology The Department of Anaesthesia of St Luke’s Hospital has received accreditation for the Training of Anaesthesiologists in a European State earlier this year thanks to this visit by Dr Zorab.

It is envisaged that this examination will be held in Malta on a regular basis.
